Some of our tutors only work with individual students, others are comfortable in smaller groups, and others thrive with up to a dozen students.  Please complete your application listing only the type(s) of tutoring you know you can currently handle.  There's always room for growth in this position.

New tutors are expected to engage in some upfront training time before they start working with clients and to consistently apply the philosophies and approaches of USA Tutors.  Anyone who is unable or unwilling to do so will see their affiliation with our company promptly concluded.

Applicants who reach the final stage of the interview process are expected to complete the following steps before a hiring agreement is executed:

• provide a minimum of three professional letters of reference endorsing your role as a tutor or instructor
• provide a letter of reference from a non-family member who can testify to your ethics and personal standards
• pass a background check
• provide a realistic availability form that meets our needs

Professional Tutors:  This category of tutors, for our needs, entail people who have completed their master's degree and/or a doctorate and spent some time as the solo instructor of a higher ed. course(s).  They provide similar insights to faculty with whom the students are studying and are current on the material.  

Please note that we do NOT hire professional tutors with only a bachelor's degree, although someone with many years of industry experience is welcome to apply to run a workshop or event.  

It's important to us that are tutors are actively involved in some way with a higher ed. curriculum to properly guide clients through the material in a classroom setting.  We understand and appreciate that people with years of industry experience have a lot to offer; our clients are contracting us to provide tutors who are intimately familiar with the current curricula and how faculty are teaching it, which changes frequently,

Trainers are experts in the material they are teaching.  That expertise may come from a degree(s), a professional certification, many years of workplace experience, and/or be reflected in awards.

Because training sessions are dependent upon a number of factors that include enrollment, marketing that we conduct, possible percentages of client rates going to an external certifying agency, and materials, payment will be negotiated with the owner of USA Tutors for each type of presentation.

The trainer will earn no less than 40% of the income for the event.

The trainer also can negotiate for a minimum number of attendees for a presentation, event, workshop, or ongoing class for it to run.  Should the trainer cancel the session and not be available to promptly reschedule, they are not entitled to any percentage paid by clients who attend the same training offered by an alternative instructor unless prior arrangements have been made and the original trainer plays an active role in the rescheduled event such as providing the curriculum and materials to a substitute instructor.

Regular instructors (i.e., not single-event trainers) are expected to complete a background check as part of their application process.

Pay rates are typically $40 an hour unless your industry experience places you in senior management roles.
